My Story

My mother named me Kamilah Simone Holtz. Three syllables, two syllables, one syllable. I like to think that is where my love of wordplay began. You may call me PoetSimone. I am a poet and a playwright. I have been writing since I was able to touch pen to paper and fingers to keys. Much of my writing is inspired by the world around me, God, and my personal struggles and triumphs in life. My heart is to use the written and spoken word to bring healing and encouragement to those that are hurting. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, experimenting in the kitchen with tea and coffee concoctions, and chasing the moon. Essential oils, music, unicorns, and the color purple all bring me joy; and my family and close friends mean the world to me.
