Showered in Grace

May you hang up your cloak as well and walk in victory.

I walk around cloaked in this shame wearing tick marks on my forehead for every indiscretion

Tick marks with loud voices shouting the circumstances- the how’s and where’s and why’s

I walk around cloaked in shame as if I don’t deserve to be showered in grace like other folks

Like Christ died for you but not for me

I walk around stepping in puddles of lies but it’s time to dry off

Switch out that cloak of shame

Reclaim my name

Stop acting as if Christ died in vain

Because He knows my name too

And even if there was no you, or you, or you

He would have died solely just for me

There are no tick marks

Not as far as the closest or the farthest eye can see

Because when I asked for forgiveness

My Jesus set me free

I have been washed clean

Those indiscretions are no longer a thing

I can now walk tall and free in victory
