Where Freedom Lies
Oh how it feels to be free in this Black female body
In this small town where Black Lives Matter all of a sudden in the year 2024
I wish I could tell you
But I cannot
Where is the liberation you might ask?
Well it is hidden
It is hidden well
Between the sacred
And the profane
Of what is still the faith journey I am on
And the trauma I am trying to overcome
It is hidden behind walls I have put up to protect me
And walls built up to oppress me from a system we all must unite and fight together
Or we will surely succumb to the unrest of this world
Oh how it feels to be free in this Black female body
I wish I could tell you
But what I do know is that I am blessed to be on this journey
What I do know is that I am not getting off this train
What I do know is that any liberation that might come will come in Gods time
And through my obedience
When
and I say
When I stop allowing the past to dictate my present and my future
And cross the river into my tomorrow
Breaking down walls and trampling on the divide between the sacred and the profane
to where there is
Only Holy
Only Whole
There and only there is
Where Freedom lies
