An “Ode” to Aging

I will enter into this new age with forgiveness in my heart

Leaving the past behind me

Never forgetting the lessons that I have earned

But not dwelling on the mistakes and sitting in the shame 

Or focusing on the blame of myself or others

This is the day that I celebrate my birth and my rebirth

Because new things are brewing

New things are on the horizon

New things are coming my way

I will enter into this new age

This new stage of life with thanksgiving flowing from my mouth

Because of all that I am grateful for

All I have overcome

And all the many blessings I am surrounded with

The love of family and friends

The miracles

The healing

On this day, the anniversary of my birth

A day often reserved for reflection that leads to remorse

I shall weep no more, lest they are tears of joy

I will enter into this new age with joy

Oh yes, I will enter into this new age with joy!
